“How could Pastor Scar possibly be dead? Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”
Schoolboy Pastor reined in his look of shock, but still found it hard to believe that Pastor Scar was truly gone. He pressed the cult member standing before him for more details.
Fearing he might become the target of the pastor’s anger, the cult member at the door hurriedly explained.
“Schoolboy Pastor, I’m not mistaken. Pastor Scar… he really is dead.”
“You say he’s dead, then who killed him? Don’t tell me it was the director of the Fangfeng City Anomaly Bureau. That woman is only a peak One-Star super. She’s no match for Pastor Scar.”
Faced with Schoolboy Pastor’s persistent questions, the cult member swallowed nervously, clearly afraid, but he still gave an honest answer.
“The one who killed Pastor Scar… was a little girl. She had striking pink hair, wore very light clothing, and had a pair of demon wings and a demon tail.”
Hearing that Pastor Scar had been killed by a little girl with pink hair, not only Schoolboy Pastor, but even Pastor Bell and Pastor Flower in the room couldn’t help showing stunned expressions.
After collecting herself, Pastor Flower stepped forward and asked the cult member with some uncertainty, “A little girl? You’re sure the one who killed Pastor Scar was a pink-haired little girl?”
“Yes, I’m certain.”
“Why are you so sure?” Pastor Bell stepped forward, continuing the line of questioning after Pastor Flower.
“Because I was monitoring the area nearby and happened to witness the moment Pastor Scar was killed by that mysterious pink-haired girl.”
Hearing this, Pastor Bell frowned and asked the cult member, “Monitoring nearby? If this pink-haired girl was so powerful, how did you manage to survive and return?”
“I was hiding in a small room in the area to observe. Plus, my own abilities aren’t particularly strong, so the pink-haired girl probably just ignored me.”
Finding his explanation reasonable, Pastor Bell and Pastor Flower exchanged a glance before Pastor Bell spoke.
“You make a fair point, but we still need to verify this carefully.”
“Uh, Pastor Bell, what do you want to verify?” The cult member looked at him, confused.
“We need to examine your memories, of course. How else can we be sure you haven’t lied to us?”
“Examine my memories? Pastor Bell, you can’t mean… you want to use that technique?” The cult member’s face instantly turned pale, his voice trembling.
Pastor Bell nodded in response. “Yes, exactly the one you’re thinking of.”
Having this confirmed, the cult member, as part of the Flame Demon Lord’s cult, understood perfectly what that meant. Not wanting to die here today, he turned and bolted down the hallway outside the door.
Seeing his attempt, Pastor Bell shook his head, knowing it was futile. But before he could even give an order, Schoolboy Pastor, who was closest, acted immediately. Using his super abilities, he easily seized the fleeing cult member, holding him firmly in his grasp.
“Dammit! Let me go! Let me go! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die yet!”
Knowing the grim fate that awaited him if caught, the cult member screamed hysterically and struggled wildly. Unfortunately, as a mere novice who had only recently gained supernatural power, there was no way he could break free from a peak One-Star super.
“Your turn, Pastor Flower,” Schoolboy Pastor said, after securely restraining the struggling cult member.
Without a word, Pastor Flower stepped forward and began to channel her power onto the terrified man, whose eyes were wide with fear.
Watching the shimmering, multicolored light emanate from Pastor Flower’s hands, the cult member’s body shook even more violently. He struggled desperately, fighting for just a little more time alive in this world. But after the radiant light enveloped him for a moment, the unlucky cult member fell still and silent.
“Is it done?” Schoolboy Pastor asked hurriedly, dropping the now-lifeless cult member. His tone was a mix of fear and anticipation.
Hearing this, Pastor Flower withdrew the shimmering light from her hands. Having done this before, she turned to Schoolboy Pastor and nodded. “It’s done.”
With her confirmation, Schoolboy Pastor pressed further, “Then… is Pastor Scar really dead?”
Drawing on the information she had extracted from the unfortunate cult member, Pastor Flower replied, “Yes, he is indeed dead.”
Hearing this, Schoolboy Pastor, who had been clinging to one last shred of hope, finally accepted reality. A lost, bewildered expression spread across his face.
“How is this possible? Why would Pastor Scar die? He was second only to the Archbishop in our Flame Demon Lord cult.”
Hearing Schoolboy Pastor’s murmur and knowing how close he was to Pastor Scar, Pastor Flower sighed and said, “It’s true, Pastor Scar was indeed the strongest among us after the Archbishop. But Schoolboy Pastor, you must remember—there’s always someone stronger out there. There will always be people far more powerful than you or me.”
“You’re right. By the way, Pastor Flower, do you know who that pink-haired girl who killed Pastor Scar is?”
Pastor Flower shook her head. “I don’t know who she is either, but I could clearly sense her immense power.”
“Sense her power? How strong is she?” Schoolboy Pastor asked further.
After thinking carefully for a moment, Pastor Flower replied, “Stronger than all of us here combined.”
“Stronger than all of us combined? Pastor Flower, are you joking?” Schoolboy Pastor said in disbelief, finding her claim hard to believe.
