Gender Swap: I’m About to Transform Using a Card! Chapter 23

Seeing the words “Husband” displayed on her phone screen, Li Caifeng immediately knew it was a call from her spouse.

Without hesitation, she pressed the answer button and spoke into the phone.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Caifeng—where are you right now?”

The voice belonged to Yan Zhenyi, her husband, who was already fully equipped and gathering at the police station entrance. His tone was urgent.

Hearing the unusual urgency in his voice, Li Caifeng sensed something serious was about to happen and quickly replied,

“I’m at the exit of Fangfeng City train station. What’s going on?”

The moment Yan Zhenyi heard his wife was at the train station—a location currently infiltrated by terrorists—his heart raced. But he knew panicking wouldn’t help. If he lost his composure, his wife would truly be in danger.

Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he responded firmly,

“I can’t explain right now, but you need to get away from Fangfeng Station as fast as possible. The sooner, the better. If you delay, it’ll be too late.”

“Leave the station immediately? Understood.”

Though she didn’t know the details, Li Caifeng could tell something major was about to happen. She quickly acknowledged his warning.

Without even hanging up, she reached out to grab her daughter, intending to flee to safety first before calling her college friend to warn her.

But before she could touch her daughter—

It happened.

Dozens of “terrorists” in black trench coats, their eyes hollow, arrived at their designated positions. Without hesitation, they acted—plunging hidden daggers into their own hearts.

“AHHH! Someone’s dead! PEOPLE ARE DYING!”

“Call an ambulance!”

“Is there a doctor? A DOCTOR!”

“Hey, young man, why would you do this?!”

As over twenty “terrorists” collapsed into pools of blood across the station plaza, bystanders erupted into chaos. Some screamed and scrambled away, while others rushed forward, dialing emergency numbers and shouting for medical help.

But just as the crowd reeled from the mass suicide—

The twenty-plus “corpses” suddenly opened their eyes.

Their irises burned crimson.

Then, defying all logic, their bodies stood back up.

Gasps of shock spread through the crowd—

Before anyone could process what was happening, flames ignited across the terrorists’ bodies.

Black fire engulfed them.

In the next second, they transformed.

Into One-Star Abyssal Monsters—Flame Demons.

The moment their transformation completed, the demons’ instincts took over.

They raised their hands—

And with a mere flick of their fingers, the nearest humans burst into black flames.

The good Samaritans who had rushed to help were now writhing in agony, their screams piercing through the station square.

Witnessing this horror, the remaining crowd finally understood.

These were no ordinary attackers.

They were monsters.

And so, the stampede began—people shrieking, trampling over each other in a desperate bid to escape.

But the Flame Demons, now fully awakened, had no intention of letting prey slip away.

The slaughter had begun.

“RUN! MONSTERS!”

“Stay back—AHHH! MOM!”

“HELP! SOMEONE SAVE ME!”

“Mom… Mom, where are you?!”

“AAAAHHH—!!!”

Watching the carnage unfold, Yan Qi instinctively searched for a hidden spot—somewhere she could transform into Daoyan the Empress and eliminate these creatures.

But before she could move—

Li Caifeng grabbed her wrist and yanked her away, dragging her toward safety.

“Mom! Where are we going?!” Yan Qi protested.

Li Caifeng didn’t even glance back.

“Are you blind?! Those things aren’t something normal people can fight! We have to get out of here—now!

“But—!”

Unaware of her daughter’s hidden power, Li Caifeng cut her off sharply:

“No buts. Listen to me. Don’t argue.

Yan Qi swallowed her words. She knew her mother, in protective mode, wouldn’t listen to reason.

The thought warmed her heart—her mom was risking everything for her.

Yet, as screams echoed around them, Yan Qi couldn’t just stand by.

“I’m sorry, Mom… You might panic for a bit. Please forgive me.”

Just as she steeled herself to break free and find a secluded spot to transform—

A Flame Demon slammed down from above, incinerating a dozen fleeing civilians in an instant.

It blocked their escape path.

“Damn it! These monsters can fly?!”

“Change direction—we need another route!”

“Over there! That side looks clear!”

A cold voice cut through the panic:

“I wouldn’t run if I were you. The Flame Demons always burn the runners first.
