Lilith had a very restless night last night. Unfortunately, Mother Xue got up to use the bathroom during the night and heard some noise.
She waited in the living room early in the morning for Xue Ji to get up, while Father Xue slept soundly last night, completely oblivious to what had happened.
Seeing that the door remained closed, Mother Xue couldn’t help but go straight into the room to wake her up.
“Xiao Ji ah, time to get up and eat breakfast.”
“Mmm, Auntie Minnow, let me sleep a little longer.” Lilith turned over, kicking the blanket off.
“Auntie? Have you gone silly in the head? Get up now!” Mother Xue was furious and patted Lilith on the cheek.
‘Lilith, get up quickly, you just said the wrong thing!’
Reminded by her ‘Minnow Fairy Sister’, Lilith immediately sat up with a jolt, leaping from the bed. Her movements were so abrupt she nearly fell off.
“Why are you so reckless, child? Come have breakfast quickly, then Mom will take you to the hospital for a check-up.”
‘When will that minnow sage get back? I don’t want to pretend anymore.’
Lilith’s nature strongly resisted this kind of disguise. Although she was born from shadows, although she could easily possess others, she disliked using her abilities for such things.
During the half-day she spent pretending to be Xue Ji, she experienced the feeling of having a family. It was a special feeling, and she liked it very much. But precisely because she liked it, when the minnow sage’s parents called out Xue Ji’s name, she felt even more agitated.
She decided she would get back at Xue Ji properly.
That morning, Lilith had a great appetite, probably not unrelated to her wild night.
Sha Ya sat beside Lilith with a mocking expression, whispering gleefully in her ear, “Were you in heat last night? I could hear your noises from the next room.”
Lilith shot her a vicious glare. This one clearly had an itchy skin again.
“Am I wrong? I heard you yowling at eight in the evening, and you were still at it when I woke up at six. Even if it is a puppet, you should still take care of your body.”
Thinking back to the ordeal she suffered last night, Lilith was in a terrible mood. Her beautiful day ended the moment she saw Sha Ya.
“Me? I… None of your business, you big-tailed wolf!”
Lilith made a move to grab Sha Ya’s tail, but Mother Xue appeared behind them.
“What are you two doing? Xue Ji, don’t bully others.”
Lilith’s hand, which had just gripped Sha Ya’s tail, paused, then slowly released it. But when she looked up and saw Sha Ya’s smug, annoying grin, anger rose from her heart, and she decided to blow everything up.
“Who she’s calling is Xue Ji. What does that have to do with me, Lilith?” Lilith’s words were shocking.
Seeing Sha Ya didn’t react, just staring blankly at her, Lilith tightened her grip on the tail again, applying strong and sinister force.
“You! You stupid little brat, let go!” Sha Ya’s tail was very sensitive. Being squeezed like that almost made her cry out, and she quickly covered her mouth.
“Let go! Who exactly are you!” Mother Xue’s voice carried a strong threatening tone.
Although Lilith didn’t turn around at that moment, the gaze boring into her back made her heart pound with fear.
Seeing no reaction from Lilith, Mother Xue immediately stepped in, grabbing Lilith from behind in a hold.
“You are not my child. Where is Xue Ji? Tell me now!”
Mother Xue directly escorted Lilith to the sofa, even producing handcuffs.
Seeing the situation was bad, Sha Ya quickly stepped forward to stop her, wanting to explain for Lilith.
“Um, Auntie, Xue Ji is fine, it’s all a misunderstanding.”
Unexpectedly, Mother Xue wasn’t buying it. She looked at Sha Ya warily.
“I didn’t ask you yesterday because you seemed honest, but now I think about it, you’re probably in cahoots with that Ling Xiaoxiao too. Stay away from me!”
“Ling Xiaoxiao? No way!” Sha Ya felt insulted, her tone became anxious, and she bristled immediately.
Father Xue, somehow already fully equipped in his Special Abilities Unit gear, appeared behind Sha Ya.
“Seems Xue Ji has been hiding quite a bit. You two, ‘Confession lenient, resistance strict’!”
Sha Ya was both angry and frustrated. She couldn’t get mad at Xue Ji’s parents, but her mouth couldn’t keep up with her brain, and her brain had already short-circuited.
“I’m going to take Xue Ji to be my bride held in the mountain stronghold.”
Only after saying it did Sha Ya realize what she’d said, and quickly covered her mouth.
Lilith laughed in exasperation. Being with this one always led to doing stupid things. What a jinx.
“I was joking, Uncle and Auntie, don’t mind me.” Sensing the atmosphere solidifying, Sha Ya quickly tried to explain.
But Father Xue wasn’t buying it. He aimed his stun gun at Sha Ya and gestured towards the sofa.
Sha Ya suddenly became quick-witted again. She obediently and proactively lay down beside Lilith, looking utterly wronged.
Sha Ya’s practiced, smooth surrender left the two adults stunned. Lilith just wanted to say she didn’t know her; being seen with her felt like it made you look stupid.
Mother Xue looked at the two rather pitiful little ones and thought, these two kids don’t seem too bright. It really must be something Xue Ji did herself.
“Dear, I really think this is a misunderstanding.”
“But where could Xue Ji have run off to? The Special Abilities Unit already arranged for her to be on temporary leave!”
Lilith suddenly spoke up, “I know where that useless, minnow sage went.”
Meanwhile, Xue Ji, still fast asleep beside Ling Xiaoxiao, sensed something and briefly opened her eyes.
“Lilith?” An intense wave of exhaustion washed over her, and Xue Ji fell asleep again.

After Xue Ji and Ling Xiaoxiao woke up around noon, they snuggled and lingered in bed for a while longer before reluctantly getting up to freshen up.
“Xiao Ji, are you sure everything is okay with your family?” Lilith had changed into a blue and white summer sportswear, tying her hair up in a high ponytail. Those phoenix eyes were no longer shrouded in melancholy but instead held a hint of just the right amount of charm. Her ethereal grace remained, but she no longer seemed so unapproachable.
In the bathroom, Xue Ji was taking a shower, completely unruffled. She was feeling triumphant and confident, believing everything was under control.
Through the door, Xue Ji’s voice mixed with the sound of rushing water.
“What’s there to worry about? I have Lilith taking my place. How could my parents possibly find out?”
“And even if they did, so what? Worst case, I’ll just cry a bit and act cute. Problem solved.”
Hearing this, Ling Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Hahaha, Xiao Ji, I don’t think Lilith is very reliable. Are you sure asking her won’t get you into trouble?”
“Besides, have you learned how to act cute now? Can you do it for me? I’m just worried your technique isn’t good enough, and your aunt and uncle won’t buy it.”
“Only as a last resort. Anyway, Lilith is so cute, why would she ever hurt me?”
Basking in the intense sunlight, Xue Ji walked with a spring in her step, arriving confidently at her family’s building in Yun City.
“Almost forgot, I can’t use the main entrance.”
The weather was so hot the air itself seemed to shimmer. There was no one around, so Xue Ji simply flew up, planning to enter her room through the window.
Humming a little tune, she leisurely flew up to her window, only to see the whole family sitting neatly in her room.
From their expressions, Xue Ji could tell they had been waiting for a while.
“Xue Ji!” All four of them called her name sternly in unison.
“Eep! I’m in trouble…”
