Even though she said that, Hu Yao’er didn’t dare walk over to Maka just yet. She knew very well that every Transcendent had a last-ditch trick up their sleeve. If she just waltzed over there and he used his ultimate move to fight for his life, she’d definitely be in big trouble.
Luckily, after that intense fight just now, the white paper armor on Maka’s body was full of gaps and cracks. That meant the anesthetic poison she’d created earlier could now get inside him.
Thinking this through, Hu Yao’er didn’t hesitate any longer. She directly controlled the poison inside her big gourd, shaping it into a black torrent that surged toward Maka, not far away.
As the black torrent of poison, guided by Hu Yao’er’s will, continuously seeped into Maka’s body through the cracks in his white paper armor, Hu Yao’er, who had just been relaxing thinking she had this in the bag, suddenly sensed something was wrong. A look of shock crossed her face.
The very next second, before Hu Yao’er could even react, the white paper armor covering Maka’s body began to glow intensely. Then, an explosion far more violent than the previous two erupted. In an instant, it completely destroyed the entire bar, engulfing both Hu Yao’er and the unconscious waiter lying on the floor.
“Whoa, my clone actually died.”
Yan Qi, who had been busy with her daily cultivation while sitting on the sofa at home, immediately stopped when she sensed her clone’s death. An incredulous expression appeared on her face as she muttered this to herself.
After speaking, Yan Qi quickly opened her system panel and found the Fox Spirit Loli transformation card in her deck of transformation cards.
Staring at the words “Repairing – Temporarily Unavailable” displayed on the Fox Spirit Loli card, Yan Qi, experiencing this kind of loss for the first time, couldn’t help but show an angry expression.
“Dammit, this is all that faceless suit guy’s fault. If it weren’t for him, my transformation card wouldn’t be damaged. Good thing it can be repaired, or I’d be out of luck.”
After mentally voicing these resentful words, Yan Qi didn’t say anything else.
Turning her attention back to the damaged Fox Spirit Loli card, she remembered the healing potions she’d gotten from drawing transformation cards. She quickly opened her system inventory and found them.
Not planning on bringing these miraculous healing potions into the real world, Yan Qi simply clicked “Use” within the system.
After clicking to use a healing potion, a list of options popped up on the system panel, and right there was her newly damaged Fox Spirit Loli card.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Yan Qi selected the Fox Spirit Loli card and confirmed her choice.
The next second, with a large quantity of healing potions being consumed, the Fox Spirit Loli card, which had been damaged by Maka’s paper clone self-destructing while her clone Hu Yao’er was out on a mission, began to recover at a visible rate. In less than half a minute, it stopped consuming potions and was restored to its normal, usable state.
Seeing that the words “Repairing – Unavailable” on the Fox Spirit Loli card had disappeared, Yan Qi knew it was fixed. She eagerly materialized the card in her hand.
Then, with a casual thought, the Fox Spirit Loli card materialized in her hand transformed back into her clone, Hu Yao’er, appearing right before her eyes.
Looking at Hu Yao’er standing in front of her, Yan Qi quickly got up from the sofa, walked barefoot across the floor to her side, and began to carefully examine her body.
After a thorough inspection, which even involved lifting Hu Yao’er’s skirt, Yan Qi confirmed that her body was perfectly fine and finally felt relieved.
“Phew, okay, no need to worry now.”
Yan Qi patted her flat chest, breathed a sigh of relief, and said this out loud.
“Oh, right, with such a huge explosion, the area around that fancy bar must have been badly affected. There are probably a lot of injured people.”
Feeling relieved now that her card was repaired, Yan Qi recalled the massive explosion that had even killed her clone at that upscale bar with the unpronounceable name. Thinking this to herself, she quickly directed her clone Hu Yao’er to leave home and head to the vicinity of the bar to help rescue the injured, alongside the Bureau of Anomalies and her other clones.
Watching her clone Hu Yao’er fly away on the big gourd until she disappeared from sight,
Standing at her doorstep, Yan Qi couldn’t help but think back to the one who had caused her such trouble – that mysterious suit guy whose face she could never quite see clearly.
“Using a second Transcendent power I wasn’t familiar with, distracting me with a clone made of paper, while the real body used his first power to escape while I was tied up by the explosion. Then he left me a powerful bomb with his second power, trying to blow me up. Suit guy, you’re something else. Next time I run into you, I won’t let you get away.”
Finally figuring out how she’d been outsmarted and suffered such a loss in the previous fight, Yan Qi silently vowed to herself.
…
“Phew, I should be safe here, right?”
Holding his injured right hand and confirming no one was following him, Maka, who had successfully escaped from the upscale bar using his two Transcendent powers, secretly thought this to himself.
Looking at the wall behind him, with the image of Hu Yao’er in his mind, along with the Free Life Association she’d mentioned when introducing herself, Maka continued his silent thoughts.
“With the explosive power of the paper clone I left behind, even that little girl with peak Two-Star Transcendent strength should have been blown up instantly. But just blowing her up isn’t enough. That Transcendent organization behind her is, in a way, the real big problem for our association.”
Having said that, and having recovered a bit of strength, Maka knew he couldn’t stay here long. He quickly got up and continued walking towards the five-star hotel where he usually laid low, heading to meet up with his companion.
