This time when Xue Ji used her ability, it unexpectedly developed a consciousness of its own. Unwilling to resort to slaughter, she had no choice but to accept the dark entity’s condition—one day of bodily control.
Thus, this sinister figure emerged.
Lilith was utterly delighted. Finally, she didn’t have to watch Xue Ji waste time with these weaklings. If she took matters into her own hands, she’d have them all obedient in no time.
Riding atop the Wolf King, Lilith returned to the lakeside and began her night of domineering tyranny.
Seeing the wolves’ dispirited expressions, Lilith quickly grew bored. She nudged the Wolf King beneath her with her small foot and asked, “Puppy, there’s more in these woods than just you guys, right? Take me to find something fun.”
Hearing this, the Wolf King’s dull eyes regained a glimmer of light. If this brat wants to play, let her play—until it kills her! This secret realm was filled with powerful beings. Even if it couldn’t defeat Lilith alone, involving enough factions would eventually crush her beneath their collective might.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
One by one, the realm’s factions fell under Lilith’s whims. Creatures as strong as the Wolf King immediately grasped the severity of the situation upon seeing her and obediently served this little overlord. The old ape groveled, the giant stag submitted, and the only one who dared resist—the explosive bear—was beaten unconscious and still hadn’t woken up.
Watching the old ape, who had once fought him for three days and nights over territory, now massaging Lilith’s shoulders and serving her fruit with his descendants, the Wolf King felt nothing but shame.
“Hey, old man! Have you no pride? Where’s the fierceness you showed when stealing my land?!” the Wolf King barked in frustration.
The old ape grinned shamelessly. “Hehe, how can you say that? Serving Lady Lilith is an honor!”
Truly, age brings cunning. The old ape’s ability to bend with the wind was something the Wolf King would need a lifetime to learn.
Seeing the ape’s shameless surrender, the Wolf King turned to a twenty-meter-tall stag and shouted, “Big guy, stop lying around! Once she’s done with us, you’re next!”
To his shock, the stag calmly replied, “She means no harm.”
Are you kidding me?! The Wolf King’s dignity had been trampled, his body toyed with, and now this fool claimed she meant no harm?
Perched on a makeshift throne built by the monkeys, Lilith munched on fruit and watched the Wolf King’s arguments with amusement. Finishing her snack, she clapped her hands and teased, “Don’t worry, puppy. Even with all these new toys, you’re still my favorite~”
She meant it. None of the other beasts had the Wolf King’s arrogance, making him the most fun to bully.
“Come here. Master will give you a reward~” Lilith crooked her finger, her eyes glinting with mischief. Before he knew it, the Wolf King found himself stepping forward against his will.
“Tch, if you had this kind of power, why bother fighting?” Lilith activated her innate charm magic, reducing the proud Wolf King to a plaything.
A strange impulse rose in the Wolf King’s heart. The once-despicable Lilith now seemed unbearably endearing. The hatred from earlier blurred, replaced by an odd, almost parental indulgence toward a misbehaving cub.
“What’s happening…? This feels disgusting.” As his emotions twisted, the Wolf King’s gaze softened until his sharp eyes dulled into a vacant, pink-tinged haze.
…..
Xue Ji, observing from within her mind, recoiled at Lilith’s cruel game. Watching the once-majestic Wolf King turned into a docile pet filled her with revulsion toward her own ability.
This behavior… it reminded her of him.
The Demon King.
Memories surfaced of the Demon King’s final curse before death: “I will take what you cherish most… possess everything you hold dear.”
A terrifying thought struck her—what if the curse allowed the Demon King to resurrect through her body?
Present-day Earth couldn’t withstand a demon of that caliber. The result would be carnage… apocalypse.
Xue Ji dared not dwell on it. If there was even a chance, she’d obliterate the possibility immediately, even at the cost of her own soul.
But the ability’s transaction wasn’t complete. She couldn’t reclaim control yet.
As a Sage, she’d already devised dozens of ways to annihilate Lilith—some effective even now. Yet her instincts screamed that acting rashly would lead to irreversible regret.
Back in the real world, Lilith—having enchanted the Wolf King—doodled on his face with fruit juice. His evolved form lacked its former ferocity, and with playful markings, he truly resembled a pet dog.
“Ahaha~ Do you like Master’s reward?” Lilith’s clothes were stained with juice, her face and hands smeared in colorful streaks, transforming her from a menace into a mischievous child.
The monkeys howled with laughter. Finally, someone put this arrogant wolf in his place! The old ape grinned, recalling how the Wolf King had forced his tribe to relocate twice in three days.
The charmed Wolf King didn’t answer Lilith, only responding with an uncharacteristically coy whine. Strangely, Lilith’s amusement faded. Her mood darkened, reverting to her sinister aura.
The beasts tensed at her mercurial shift. The old ape, ever perceptive, immediately silenced his kin with frantic gestures. Only the giant stag remained calm, watching Lilith with serene eyes.
“So annoying!” Lilith’s voice sliced through the forest, plunging it into silence.
“RAAH! You dare challenge me, human?!”
At that exact moment, the explosive bear—knocked out earlier—woke up and roared at Lilith, rubbing its fists together.
Every creature broke into a cold sweat, watching nervously as the bear, sporting a massive lump on its head, postured before Lilith.
“Pfft—BAHAHAHA!”
Lilith took one look at the bear’s comically swollen head and collapsed in hysterics, rolling on the ground clutching her stomach.
“Human brat! Have you lost your mind laughing? Or are you begging for mercy?” The bear scratched its head, oblivious to the other beasts’ frantic warning signals.
The old ape facepalmed. “A-Bao’s always been a bit slow… Boss, please go easy on him.”
But Lilith, seemingly exhausted from her antics, curled up atop the Wolf King and drifted to sleep.
