“Daoyan, judging by your expression, do you know why I had that urge earlier?”
Noticing the shift in Yan Qi’s expression, Yan Yu couldn’t help but feel curious—it seemed like her sister knew something.
Yan Qi had no intention of hiding it. “Yan Yu, that destructive impulse you felt earlier is probably connected to the supernatural power you obtained from Zige.”
“The power I got from little sister Zige? That makes sense. After all, this strange urge only appeared after I gained that power.”
Finding Yan Qi’s reasoning sound, Yan Yu nodded in agreement.
“Alright, we’ve dealt with the Flesh Blossom here. Let’s hurry to the next location.”
Not wanting to dwell on her sister’s strange impulses, Yan Qi quickly urged Yan Yu to move on. Their top priority now was eliminating the remaining Flesh Blossoms within the black barrier.
Understanding the urgency, the now-experienced Yan Yu nodded and hopped down from the corpse of the abyssal beast she had slain. She took Yan Qi’s hand, and together, they returned to the real world.
“Follow me.”
Back in reality, Yan Qi paused briefly to recall their next destination before taking to the air. Yan Yu followed closely behind, controlling her own power to keep up.
…..
“No idea what’s gotten into the higher-ups today, making such a huge scene here. Aren’t they worried about public complaints?”
One member of the Special Affairs Bureau grumbled to his colleague after helping evacuate nearby civilians. They were now stationed near the unseen black barrier, keeping watch.
His colleague, ever the voice of reason, replied, “Stop complaining. The higher-ups always have their reasons. If they’re making this much of a fuss, they must’ve found something serious. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have evacuated so many people.”
“You’re right. They do know what they’re doing. I guess I overthought it.”
“Glad you see it that way.”
Just as the two agents passed the time with conversation, a young man—dressed in thick clothing despite the sweltering heat—appeared in the distance, riding an electric scooter straight toward the restricted area.
“Huh? Weren’t all the civilians evacuated? Why is someone coming back now?”
“Maybe he forgot something at home and came back to get it,” the more talkative agent speculated.
His colleague, however, felt uneasy. “Whatever he forgot, this area’s off-limits to civilians now. Let’s go talk him out of it before he gets hurt.”
“Yeah, good idea.”
With that, the two agents approached the strange young man, intending to send him away.
“Sir, the street ahead is closed off. Even if you need to retrieve something from your home, I’m afraid you can’t enter. Please turn back.”
The more serious agent raised a hand, signaling the young man to stop.
But instead of slowing down, the scooter rider accelerated—charging straight at them.
Realizing his intent, the agents reacted instantly. One summoned a wall of water, blocking the scooter’s path.
Seeing the barrier, the young man hit the brakes and came to a stop. But stopping didn’t mean surrendering.
He pulled out a handful of small bottles and hurled them at the agents.
Confused but alert, the talkative agent used his power to shatter the bottles mid-air.
A faint green mist spilled out—only to vanish almost instantly, as if it had never existed.
“You okay? Any injuries?” the serious agent asked, concerned.
“I’m fine. No issues here.”
“You sure?”
“Positive. Instead of worrying about me, let’s focus on dealing with this guy who just threw bottles at us.”
The talkative agent shot a glance at the scooter rider.
“We arrest him, of course. We’re with the Special Affairs Bureau, and the higher-ups already ordered us to detain any suspicious individuals.”
