After hearing Yan Qi’s comments directed at him, young Priest Li, knowing her words were true, showed little emotional reaction on his face.
Soon, he conjured another fireball in his hand and hurled it directly at Yan Qi.
Seeing this, Yan Qi made no attempt to dodge. Instead, she raised her hand and employed Wind Control, an auxiliary Taoist technique she had acquired through cultivation.
In the next instant, the fireball controlled by young Priest Li suddenly began to tremble violently.
Before young Priest Li could comprehend what was happening, the fireball he had thrown veered past Yan Qi, landing harmlessly behind her.
“Is this the method you mentioned earlier?” Yan Qi asked, brandishing her giant black scythe and speaking to the young priest with a smile in her voice.
Hearing this, young Priest Li responded, “Don’t get cocky. The battle between us has only just begun.”
“Just begun? Let’s skip that; I’m in a hurry.”
Upon hearing his words, Yan Qi, aware of her limited time, had no intention of prolonging their encounter.
Immediately, she charged toward young Priest Li, gripping her giant black scythe and moving with remarkably light footsteps.
Watching Yan Qi close the distance in the blink of an eye, young Priest Li realized that failure to defend himself would mean certain defeat. He hurriedly attempted to activate his superhuman abilities.
Unfortunately, before he could fully unleash his power, Yan Qi’s giant black scythe had already struck his shoulder.
“I’ve been hit!”
Seeing the giant black scythe embedded in his shoulder, young Priest Li inwardly exclaimed as he registered the blow.
Without giving him any chance to react, Yan Qi, having successfully struck his shoulder with her innate weapon, unhesitatingly activated her skill.
The next moment, after a wave of bizarre dizziness, the young priest was startled to discover that his soul had been separated from his body.
“What have you done to me?” he asked, bewildered by how Yan Qi had managed to sever his soul from his body.
Hearing his question and confirming that her skill had taken effect, Yan Qi ignored him entirely.
“Good, one of the cultists trying to break through the encirclement has been captured. Two remain,” she murmured under her breath.
She then proceeded to control both the soul and the body of young Priest Li, heading toward the path where the next cultist attempting to break through was expected.
“You sinners from the Abnormal Incident Bureau, clear the way now! Otherwise, I can’t guarantee you’ll be left in one piece.”
Priest Hua, attempting to break through from another direction, glared at the dozen or so Bureau members surrounding her and spoke in a menacing tone.
“Threatening to chop people into pieces if they don’t make way? Aren’t you being a bit too arrogant, ma’am?”
Appearing behind the Bureau members, Yan Qi couldn’t help but retort upon hearing Priest Hua’s threat.
“Huh? It’s you.”
Recognizing Yan Qi’s voice immediately, Priest Hua couldn’t conceal the surprise and fear in her tone.
“That’s right, it’s me. What, are you surprised?” Yan Qi replied cheerfully, noting the change in Priest Hua’s expression and feigning innocence.
Instead of answering, Priest Hua, already flustered at the sight of Yan Qi, could only think of how to escape.
Having formulated a plan, she launched an attack against the Bureau members at top speed.
Seeing Priest Hua suddenly assault them, the Bureau members immediately prepared to intervene.
But before they could act, Yan Qi had already swung her giant black scythe and materialized before them like a ghost.
In the next instant, Yan Qi’s scythe landed on Priest Hua’s shoulder.
With a sickening thud as it bit into flesh, Priest Hua stared blankly at the giant black scythe now resting on her shoulder.
A moment later, as Yan Qi activated her skill, Priest Hua suffered the same fate as young Priest Li—her soul was forcibly extracted from her body.
“Good, that’s the second one. Just one left.”
Having successfully dealt with Priest Hua, Yan Qi, aware of her remaining target, paid no attention to the bewildered expressions of the Bureau members around her. After uttering these words, she took control of Priest Hua’s soul and body and departed to capture her final target of the day.
“I never expected the head of the Fangfeng City Abnormal Incident Bureau to come greet an old man like me in person. Do you have so little faith in your subordinates’ abilities?”
Seeing Bai Yuling blocking his path with Bureau members, Priest Zhong, though aware the situation was dire, maintained a facade of calm as he addressed her.
“I have full confidence in my subordinates’ abilities. However, your power slightly surpasses the others’. As the head of the Bureau, I felt it necessary to be here to stop you myself.”
“Stop me? Do you really think you can?”
“Who can know the outcome without trying?”
With that, no further words were exchanged between Bai Yuling and Priest Zhong, and the tension between them escalated sharply.
“Are you the last priest of the Flame Demon Cult?” Yan Qi’s voice cut through the standoff.
“Huh? You’re that peak three-star superhuman from before!”
Hearing Yan Qi’s voice, Priest Zhong immediately looked up at her, his face etched with surprise.
“Correct, it’s me. What, do I look that unexpected?”
“Of course I’m surprised. I never imagined I’d have to face both the head of the Abnormal Incident Bureau and a mysterious peak three-star superhuman like you today,” Priest Zhong replied.
“Are you saying you plan to surrender?” Yan Qi asked, interpreting his words as a potential capitulation.
In response, Priest Zhong shook his head. “No. As a devout believer, I will never surrender.”
Hearing this, Yan Qi’s eyebrow twitched slightly. “Then why say all that?”
“The reason I said that,” Priest Zhong answered, “is because I’ve already resolved to take you all down with me.”
