“But if I don’t call you ‘classmate,’ what should I call you? You are my classmate,” Yan Yu said, frowning slightly at the college girl’s words.
“You… my classmate? How is that possible? I’ve never seen anyone with such distinctive features as you at our university,” the girl replied, looking at Yan Yu with surprise after hearing her explanation.
Hearing this, Yan Yu paused for a moment, but then quickly remembered she was still in her transformed state and realized why the girl didn’t recognize her.
Considering this, and knowing that casually revealing her identity could cause unnecessary trouble, Yan Yu said to the girl, “The reason you haven’t seen me around campus is that I’m not there very often. But it’s true, we do attend the same university.”
“Really? Well, if you’re rarely on campus, then it makes sense I wouldn’t know you,” the girl mused, finding Yan Yu’s explanation reasonable.
“Alright, now that this is settled, we shouldn’t stay up on the mountain any longer. Come with me, let’s leave this place.”
“Okay, sure. Um, Miss Superhu— I mean, classmate… why are you picking me up?” the girl asked, startled as Yan Yu suddenly lifted her into her arms.
“To take you down the mountain, of course.”
“Take me down? But couldn’t we just… walk? Why carry me?”
“Because I’m not planning to walk down. We’re flying.”
“Flying?”
At first, the girl didn’t quite process Yan Yu’s words. But when Yan Yu activated her superhuman powers and lifted off from the ground, she understood exactly what had been meant.
“So that’s what you meant by flying,” the girl thought, feeling a wave of dizziness as she looked down at the ground now dozens of meters below, her fear of heights instantly kicking in.
…
Just as Yan Yu was flying with the college girl from the mid-slopes of Ninghang University’s back hill towards the foot of the mountain, Yan Qi—having used her Electronic Diva ability—had already returned home.
Changed back to her original form, Yan Qi sat on her bed, feeling quite satisfied as she reflected on everything she had done that day.
She glanced at the time on her phone and saw it was almost midnight.
Feeling thoroughly tired, she didn’t force herself to stay up any longer. She lay down, pulled the covers over herself, and quickly drifted into a deep and sweet sleep.
Early the next morning, Saturday, despite having gone to bed late, Yan Qi’s cultivated physique allowed her to wake up promptly at 6 AM. She opened her eyes and got out of bed.
Seeing the rising sun outside, she knew it was the perfect time for her cultivation practice.
After a quick trip to the bathroom, Yan Qi sat cross-legged on her bed without hesitation. Following the routine she had developed recently, she began her cultivation session.
After cultivating for over an hour, feeling her strength as a Qi Refiner had progressed yet again, Yan Qi withdrew the spiritual energy she had gathered back into her dantian.
She opened her eyes, exhaled a faint, misty breath, and stood up. After changing into fresh clothes, she prepared to leave her room.
Right at that moment, however, her phone rang.
Hearing the sound, she knew someone was calling.
Yan Qi blinked, wondering who would be calling her at this hour.
But she didn’t dwell on it for long. She quickly picked up her phone and looked at the name displayed on the screen.
“Hu Mengqing? Why is the Class President calling me all of a sudden?”
Unsure why her class president would be calling so early, a few question marks popped up in Yan Qi’s mind.
She answered the call. “Class President, what’s up? Why are you calling me so early?”
On the other end, hearing Yan Qi’s familiar voice, Hu Mengqing—who, with less than a week until the college entrance exams, was already on break—quickly explained, “Xiao Qi, are you free around noon today?”
Yan Qi thought about her schedule for the day. “Hmm, I should be. Why, what’s going on?”
“Well, you remember how we wanted to have a graduation party before, but it fell through for a bunch of reasons? Since the exams are so close and school let us out a week early, the class committee talked with the teachers. We decided to finally have that long-overdue graduation party, and we’ve set it for today at noon.”
“Oh, so that’s why you’re asking if I’m free. You’re inviting me to the graduation party at noon.”
“Yes, that’s exactly why I called,” Hu Mengqing said.
She paused briefly before continuing, “So… what do you think, Xiao Qi?”
Hearing Hu Mengqing’s voice from the other end, and having no special plans for the day, Yan Qi thought for a moment before replying, “Since you’re sincerely inviting me, Class President, as your classmate, how could I refuse?”
“That’s great!” Hu Mengqing said, her face instantly brightening into a smile, her voice brimming with excitement upon hearing Yan Qi’s agreement.
For the next ten minutes or so, after calming her initial excitement, a more collected Hu Mengqing went over many important details with Yan Qi—the party’s location, how long it would last, some planned activities, and a little surprise they had prepared for their teachers.
“Alright, Class President, is there anything else you need to tell me?” Yan Qi asked after listening, wanting to make sure she hadn’t missed anything.
“That’s all for now. If anything else comes up, I’ll find another time to let you know.”
“Okay, sounds good. I’ve got it. See you at the Hot Pot Food Court at noon, then.”
