“The situation here is really terrible.”
Riding her large gourd all the way back to the vicinity of the upscale bar, Hu Yao’er looked down at the tragic scene below after the explosion. She couldn’t help muttering this to herself, then quickly controlled the gourd beneath her, landing on the ground.
“Aunt Bai, can you tell me how many people are injured here now?”
Just as Bai Yuling was busy directing the Paranormal Affairs Bureau personnel in the rescue efforts near the bar after the explosion, she heard someone call her “Aunt Bai.” Knowing who the voice belonged to, she quickly turned around and looked at Hu Yao’er, who was carrying the large gourd on her back.
“Xiao Hu, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Aunt Bai. You haven’t answered my question yet.”
Hearing Bai Yuling’s inquiry, Hu Yao’er replied with this before promptly urging her to answer the question she had just asked.
Upon hearing this, and confirming that Hu Yao’er hadn’t suffered any injuries, Bai Yuling couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Then she answered Hu Yao’er.
“Xiao Hu, it’s good that you’re okay. As of now, our bureau has found a total of one hundred and twenty-three injured people. Among them, ninety-two have minor injuries, and thirty-one have serious injuries.”
“The number of minor and serious injuries is higher than I thought, Aunt Bai. These wounded probably haven’t been sent to the hospital yet, right?”
Upon learning the specific number of casualties caused by Maka’s earlier explosion, Hu Yao’er immediately continued pressing for more information.
Regarding this, Bai Yuling nodded and replied.
“Not yet. After all, the explosion just happened not long ago. The ambulances sent out by the hospitals are probably still on their way.”
“Mm, in that case, let me go and treat these wounded. If we really have to wait for the ambulances to arrive here and transport them, I’m afraid many people will die.”
Receiving Bai Yuling’s answer and knowing that the situation now required immediate medical assistance for the injured, Hu Yao’er quickly offered to help with the treatment.
Knowing that Hu Yao’er’s supernatural power leaned towards healing and that she also possessed extensive medical experience, Bai Yuling didn’t hesitate for a moment and said to Hu Yao’er.
“Xiao Hu, it’s really great that you’re willing to help. I’ll take you to the wounded right now.”
“Then I’ll trouble you, Aunt Bai, to lead the way.”
“It’s no trouble at all.”
After speaking, she turned around and gave a few instructions to several colleagues beside her. Then Bai Yuling quickly led Hu Yao’er to the large tent that had been temporarily set up to gather the wounded.
Entering the tent, Hu Yao’er looked at the injured lying on stretchers. Because they hadn’t received much medical attention yet, most of their wounds hadn’t been treated.
Without any hesitation, Hu Yao’er turned to Bai Yuling, mentioned some of the medical equipment she needed right now, and then immediately threw herself into the work of treating the wounded.
While Hu Yao’er was busy treating the wounded in the tent, the rescue operations outside the tent weren’t completely over yet.
Looking at a person whose head had been crushed under a cement slab she had just pried open with brute force, Zhao Mei’er, the little succubus queen dressed in an exceptionally cool outfit who was always being eyed with various fervent glances by the men and women around her, spoke with a slightly helpless tone to two members of the Paranormal Affairs Bureau nearby. They kept stealing glances at her while bending over, as if afraid someone might notice something.
“There’s a person here, but by the looks of it, they’re probably already dead. You two come and handle the aftermath.”
Having said that, Zhao Mei’er didn’t stay where she was. Instead, she moved on to the next location, continuing to search through the rubble here for any other survivors.
Hearing Zhao Mei’er’s words, the two bureau members, as if waking from a dream, replied with a “Yes,” and then watched her leave their sight.
“That little girl is really cute. I really want to pull her into my arms and pamper her.”
“It would be even better if we could do something else after holding her in our arms.”
“Yeah, wait a minute… what did we just say to each other?”
After watching Zhao Mei’er leave, the two bureau members, reluctant to see her go, unconsciously spoke their true thoughts to each other.
But as soon as they finished speaking, they immediately realized something was wrong. They instinctively looked at each other, and almost simultaneously, a flush of shame appeared on their faces, the kind that comes after a secret in one’s heart is accidentally revealed.
After a brief moment of eye contact, they both quickly turned their faces away. Each took a deep breath to calm their emotions before raising their heads again and explaining in unison.
“I was just joking earlier. Please don’t take it seriously.” ×2
Hearing that they had both said the exact same thing, the already awkward atmosphere became even more awkward.
After a while, one of them, trying to break the extremely awkward tension, quickly spoke up.
“Never mind this useless talk. Did you forget the task that little girl just gave us?”
“Right, right, right. How could I have forgotten what that little girl instructed us to do? Thanks for reminding me, brother. Let’s get moving quickly.”
Having said that, the two of them tacitly agreed not to bring up the previous issue again and immediately went to carry out the task Zhao Mei’er had given them.
“Here’s another injured person. Mortals, do you have another stretcher?”
Carrying an injured little girl she had pulled from the ruins, not caring that her cloak and clothes were stained with blood, Si Ye Xing quickly shouted to the other bureau personnel on site.
Hearing her voice, the bureau members who were searching nearby for survivors immediately rushed over with a stretcher and placed the little girl on it.
“Thank you, big sister.”
The little girl, who hadn’t lost consciousness and knew who had saved her, quickly thanked Si Ye Xing, who was standing beside the stretcher.
“It’s nothing, cute little girl. Before your life reaches its end, even this Death God, who holds the authority over death and manages the entire Underworld on behalf of the fallen deities, has no right to take your life or stand by and watch you die right in front of me.”
“Authority? Fallen deities? Underworld? Death God?”
Hearing Si Ye Xing’s chuunibyou speech, the little girl on the stretcher couldn’t help but show a curious expression, muttering several unfamiliar phrases from Si Ye Xing’s words.
“What’s the matter? Do you have some doubts, cute little girl?”
