Upon learning that Zhao Mei’er was actually a friend of Hu Yao’er and Si Yexing, and remembering that Dao Yan Female Emperor had appeared here earlier, An Nai couldn’t help but ask the two people in front of her.
Hearing this, Hu Yao’er quickly looked at her and said.
“Yes, she really is a friend of mine and Yexing’s. She’s also the leader of our organization.”
“The leader of an organization? That sounds so cool.”
An Nai, who had caught the “chuunibyou” (middle-school syndrome) from Si Yexing, her eyes started sparkling when she heard Hu Yao’er say that Dao Yan Female Emperor was the leader of their organization. Although she didn’t really know what an organization was, or what a leader was, that didn’t stop her from instinctively saying this.
……
“Ah, standing out here is so boring. I really want to go inside with the other mes and tease those cute little girls. Too bad, who asked me to be the Little Succubus Queen? Sigh.”
The Little Succubus Queen Zhao Mei’er, standing outside the tent, looked at the vision and memories she shared with her other selves. Her little demon tail couldn’t help but sway as she spoke with a hint of regret.
“Excuse me, miss, is this where the injured are being kept?”
Hearing a woman’s voice beside her, Zhao Mei’er quickly shifted her gaze to her, and to the middle-aged man beside her. He had a fresh slap mark on his face and was currently staring at the ground, not daring to look up at her.
Zhao Mei’er had already noticed these two when they appeared nearby, and she knew perfectly well why the middle-aged man beside the woman who asked the question had that slap mark on his face. So, instead of asking about it, she simply looked at the middle-aged woman and said.
“Yes, this tent is where the injured are gathered. Are you here looking for a relative?”
“That’s right, we’re here to find our daughter.”
“Does your daughter have any distinct features? Otherwise, I won’t be able to find her among so many injured people.”
“Yes, yes we do, miss. My daughter is seven years old, about this tall. She’s wearing a white shirt, a blue pinafore dress, and has a ponytail about this long.”
Facing Zhao Mei’er’s question, the middle-aged woman briefly recalled what her daughter was wearing today, and quickly described her daughter’s distinct features using hand gestures.
After listening to the middle-aged woman’s description, Zhao Mei’er couldn’t help but pause for a moment. Then, she asked the woman tentatively.
“Is your daughter’s name An Nai?”
“Yes, my daughter’s full name is An Nai. Since you know her name, miss, then you must have seen my daughter, right? Can you tell me where she is now?”
Hearing Zhao Mei’er correctly say her daughter’s name, the middle-aged woman immediately became excited. She then quickly asked Zhao Mei’er, eager to find out her daughter’s whereabouts from her.
“Please calm down, auntie.”
Noticing the middle-aged woman in front of her was getting a bit too excited, Zhao Mei’er quickly spoke up to calm her down.
Hearing this, realizing she had indeed been a bit too worked up, the middle-aged woman took a few deep breaths and composed herself. Then, she said to Zhao Mei’er somewhat apologetically.
“I’m sorry, miss. I just couldn’t help it, that’s why I got so emotional.”
“It’s okay, I understand.”
“So, miss, can you answer my question now?”
“Of course. I have indeed seen your daughter. She’s with my friends right now.”
“Is she alright? She isn’t hurt, is she?”
Upon hearing Zhao Mei’er’s reply, the middle-aged woman felt a huge weight lift from her heart. Immediately after, she started asking Zhao Mei’er other questions about her daughter.
Faced with the woman’s barrage of questions, feeling it was pointless to answer them all here, Zhao Mei’er quickly said to her.
“Auntie, instead of asking me so many questions, why don’t you just go into the tent and see your daughter yourself?”
Hearing this, the middle-aged woman finally snapped out of it and said.
“You’re right, miss. Why am I being so muddled here? Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank me. Just go inside and find your daughter.”
After telling the middle-aged woman she didn’t need to thank her, Zhao Mei’er quickly urged her to go into the tent to see An Nai.
Hearing this, the middle-aged woman didn’t delay any further. She grabbed the hand of the middle-aged man beside her, who still hadn’t dared to look up at Zhao Mei’er, lifted the tent flap, and walked straight in.
“Xinxin, Xinxin, where are you? Mom and Dad are here to find you.”
“Ah, that’s Mom’s voice! Mom, Dad, I’m over here!”
Hearing her mother’s voice, the adorable little girl An Nai, who had been playing with Hu Yao’er and Si Yexing, instantly perked up and shouted towards the direction the voice came from.
Upon hearing their daughter An Nai’s response, her parents quickly saw her on the stretcher that was revealed after Hu Yao’er and Si Yexing stepped aside.
Then, with expressions of pleasant surprise, the couple quickly walked over to An Nai, knelt down, and pulled her into their arms.
“Xinxin, Mom finally found you.”
“Sob sob~”
Hearing her mother’s tearful voice, even though she was still a child, having unknowingly become more mature after going through such a big ordeal today, An Nai quickly hugged her mother back and said in a comforting tone.
“Mom, don’t cry. Look, I’m fine now, aren’t I? Just a little weak, that’s all.”
Hearing her daughter’s comforting words, the middle-aged woman quickly wiped the tears from her face, stopped crying, and let go of her daughter to carefully check her all over.
After confirming there were no injuries on her, only some weakness, the middle-aged woman finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Is our daughter really okay?”
Seeing his wife’s relieved expression, the middle-aged man, who had been standing by watching the interaction between mother and daughter without being able to get a word in, quickly asked with concern.
Hearing this, the middle-aged woman quickly answered her husband.
“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with her.”
“Phew, that’s a relief.”
“Mom, why is there a slap mark on Dad’s face?”
After breaking free from her mother’s embrace, An Nai noticed a fresh slap mark on her father’s face that hadn’t been there before. Curious, she couldn’t help but ask her mother.
