After confirming that her parents had nothing else to say, Yan Qi turned around for the third time, ready to mount her giant gourd and leave Fangfeng City’s train station.
But just then—yet again—someone called out to her.
“Wait, Senior! There are a few things I’d like to discuss with you!”
It was Shen An’an, whose injuries—even her severed hand—had been completely healed by Yan Qi’s fox-eared loli form’s abilities.
Having seen Yan Qi fly into the station’s second-floor waiting area on her gourd earlier, Shen An’an, remembering her duties as part of the National Security Bureau’s Special Response Team, ignored her exhaustion and quickly climbed up the ladder after her.
Upon reaching the second floor and seeing Yan Qi about to leave, Shen An’an immediately shouted to stop her.
Hearing Shen An’an’s voice, Yan Qi—who had been repeatedly delayed—finally lost her patience.
Without even bothering to respond, she turned her back, mounted her gourd, and let it lift her into the air, carrying her out of the waiting area and away from the station.
“Senior! Senior, don’t go! I just wanted to invite you to join our soon-to-be-established Supernatural Affairs Bureau!”
Watching Yan Qi’s retreating figure, Shen An’an continued shouting, but the distance was already too great—her words went unheard.
Disappointment washed over Shen An’an’s face. She had failed to establish a connection with a supernatural healer of such extraordinary ability.
“Honey, is Xiao Qi safe?”
As she watched the fox-eared girl fly away on her gourd, Li Caifeng suddenly remembered her actual daughter, who had left earlier. Worried, she turned to her husband.
Recalling what Shen An’an had told him earlier, Yan Zhenyi reassured her.
“Don’t worry, she’s safe.”
“That’s a relief. Let’s go find her—she must be worried sick about us.”
Just as the couple prepared to leave, the emergency doctor who had thanked Yan Qi earlier approached them.
“Excuse me, sir.”
“Yes? Is there something you need?”
Knowing the doctor was a good man, Yan Zhenyi responded politely.
The doctor quickly explained.
“Sir, I understand your injuries have mostly healed thanks to that young girl—Hu Yaoy’er. But for safety’s sake, I still recommend a hospital check-up.”
“I get the feeling that’s not the only reason you’re suggesting this.”
Something about the doctor’s timing felt off to Yan Zhenyi.
The doctor chuckled awkwardly.
“Alright, I admit—aside from the check-up, I’d also like to collect some blood and tissue samples from you.”
“My blood and tissue? Why? I’m just an ordinary person.”
Confused, Yan Zhenyi frowned.
The doctor clarified.
“You are ordinary, sir. But you’ve just undergone supernatural healing. Studying those samples could help us understand how it works.”
Realization dawned on Yan Zhenyi.
“Ah, so you’re trying to figure out how Yaoy’er’s powers healed me so quickly?”
“Exactly. If we can replicate this, countless people could benefit in the future. Of course, it’s entirely up to you.”
After a moment’s thought, Yan Zhenyi nodded.
“If it’s just some blood and tissue, I don’t mind helping.”
“That’s wonderful!” The doctor beamed.
“We’ll head to the hospital after finding our daughter. I’ll provide the samples then.”
“I won’t keep you any longer.”
With that settled, the doctor left to approach other survivors Yan Qi had healed.
“Strange… Why even ask for permission? If the government demanded it, I couldn’t refuse.”
Yan Zhenyi mused aloud to his wife.
Li Caifeng smiled.
“Maybe because he’s a conscientious man.”
“Huh.”
Watching the doctor politely negotiating with others nearby, Yan Zhenyi fell into thought.
“Enough pondering—let’s go find our daughter.”
“Right, but… where is she?”
It suddenly struck him that he had no idea. Fortunately, Shen An’an was still nearby.
“Miss Shen, could you tell us where our daughter is now?”
Approaching her, Yan Zhenyi posed the question.
Shen An’an turned and nodded.
“Officer Yan! Thank you for your cooperation today—even if the operation didn’t succeed. As for your daughter, she should be with the other rescued children at Longyuan Elementary nearby.”
“Longyuan Elementary? Got it. Thank you.”
“No need—it’s my duty.”
With their destination confirmed, the couple wasted no time. They descended the emergency ladders and hurried toward the school, eager to reunite with their daughter.
