Soul Exchange: This School Beauty Isn’t So Cold Chapter 255

Su Mo shook his head, thinking to himself that there probably wasn’t some convoluted, bizarre story behind it all. Maybe they had just come here voluntarily?

“How long has it been since you went outside?” Su Mo asked in return.

The Doctor glanced at Su Mo but didn’t answer. Instead, he walked over to the surgical bed and pointed at it. “Lie down.”

Su Mo’s expression turned wary. “What do you want to do?”

The Doctor began putting on surgical scrubs while taking the instruments handed to him by Xiao Hao. “I brought you here for experiments, naturally. What did you think?”

Su Mo instinctively took half a step back, his hands curling slightly, ready to unleash his Skull-Shattering Palm technique at any moment.

These two seemed like ordinary people, and he was confident he could handle them. He was just worried there might be some trap he hadn’t figured out yet.

Seeing his guarded posture, the Doctor suddenly laughed. “I was just bored, teasing you for fun.”

With that, he abruptly took off the surgical scrubs and handed the instruments back to a bewildered-looking Xiao Hao.

Su Mo was puzzled. “What do you mean by this?”

The Doctor let out a long sigh. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen a newcomer. I wanted to scare you for a bit of fun, but you didn’t even flinch. If I kept going, it would be no different from asking for trouble.”

Su Mo: “…”

“Follow me,” the Doctor said, turning and leaving the lab. After a moment’s hesitation, Su Mo followed.

“Where are you taking me?”
“You’ll know when we get there.”

After several twists and turns, the three arrived at a room. It seemed to be the Doctor’s office, and further inside was an inner chamber, likely their living quarters.

“Although I haven’t had contact with the outside world for a long time, I still hear occasional news. I know you young girls nowadays like milk tea, but all I have here is water. Please make do.” The Doctor personally poured a cup of water for Su Mo.

Su Mo accepted the cup with both hands but hesitated to bring it to his lips.

“Fine, I suppose I do look like a villain. Why would you trust me?” the Doctor said with self-deprecation, taking the cup back and draining it in one go.

Xiao Hao, standing nearby, seemed displeased. “How can you be so rude? The teacher saved you from the hands of the Immortal Lord, and you still don’t trust him!”

With only the three of them in the room, Xiao Hao’s voice was exceptionally loud.

Su Mo’s beautiful eyes widened as if he had heard something unbelievable. “Immortal Lord? Is this the territory of the Hundred Immortals Sect?”

His mind began to race.

Did this young man just say the Doctor saved me from the Immortal Lord? Could the Immortal Lord of the Hundred Immortals Sect be that humanoid creature from another world?

That’s utterly absurd.

Furthermore, Soul Immortal had previously mentioned the Immortal Lord’s name, saying he had forbidden Soul Immortal from killing me. Was that just to get my blood?

That doesn’t make sense. Drawing blood is easy. There’s no need for such elaborate schemes.

Su Mo felt his brain was struggling to keep up, or perhaps his imagination wasn’t wild enough, as he couldn’t make sense of it all at once.

The Doctor shot Xiao Hao a look, signaling him to be quiet.

“I know you have many questions for me. I will answer them all, but you must promise me one thing first.”

“What is it?” Su Mo asked.

The Doctor shook his head. “I can’t tell you that yet.”

Su Mo gritted his teeth. “Then what exactly do you want to say? You’ve been speaking in riddles for so long without answering a single question, only digging more holes. Do you think you’re writing a novel and laying down foreshadowing?”

Immediately after saying this, Su Mo felt it was inappropriate and added with a slight pout, “Sorry, I have an impatient nature. Regardless, since you saved me, I should say thank you. I don’t even know how to address you yet.”

“Just call me Doctor. Everyone does.”

“Tsk… that’s quite a prestigious title…” Su Mo muttered to himself, not realizing the other had heard. Their eyes met, and Su Mo gave an awkward smile. “I mean, it’s a very impressive title.”

“You’re quite an interesting girl, unlike my student here, who’s rather dull.”

Xiao Hao: (╥﹏╥)

“Doctor, since you have such a good impression of me, why not tell me? What exactly is going on? My head is a complete mess right now. If it gets any more muddled, I might end up just like him.”

Xiao Hao: “???”

The Doctor laughed heartily. “Alright, you’ve managed to amuse me. Telling you won’t hurt.”

“Teacher, if the Immortal Lord finds out…”

The Doctor raised a hand to cut him off. “Since when have you become so hung up on the Immortal Lord? Besides, even if I tell this young lady everything, what can he possibly do to me?”

Xiao Hao averted his gaze, not daring to meet the Doctor’s eyes.

The Doctor smiled at Su Mo, clearly genuinely fond of her personality. “I noticed your expression darkened when you mentioned the Hundred Immortals Sect. You must know something about them.”

Su Mo admitted, “That’s right.”

The Doctor continued, “Actually, the Immortal Lord of the Hundred Immortals Sect… he isn’t human. He’s an intelligent life form from another world. Back then, I took pity on him and saved him when he was just a child. I secretly raised him, never expecting to nurture a tiger that would turn on me. He secretly studied the knowledge of our human world…”

Hearing this, Su Mo’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. Who would have thought the revered Immortal Lord truly wasn’t human and had actually been adopted by the Doctor before him?

The Doctor sighed as he spoke. “Our ancestors warned us long ago: ‘If they are not of our kind, their hearts must be different.’ Unfortunately, I didn’t listen.”

Xiao Hao, listening nearby, broke into a cold sweat, but this time he didn’t interrupt his teacher. He just listened quietly.

Su Mo’s eyes lit up. “So, he deliberately let you save him just to steal our knowledge?”

The Doctor shook his head, then nodded, finally saying, “Perhaps. Perhaps he came for my knowledge from the very beginning. His race possesses a photographic memory. In just a few short years, he surpassed my own expertise in biology, my strongest field.”

“And that wasn’t enough. He then began researching artificial superhumans… and succeeded. Truly a frightening genius.”

Su Mo found it incredible. “So, the artificial superhuman technology in the United States was actually developed by him? No wonder they possess such advanced technology. They must have reached some kind of cooperation with the Immortal Lord.”

Everything clicked into place for Su Mo. He finally understood the fundamental reason why the Hundred Immortals Sect had relocated to the United States.

He now had reason to suspect that the Immortal Lord had acquired even more knowledge from the U.S. and used it as a foundation to develop even more powerful black technology.

This also finally explained how Soul Immortal had been able to return from death.

Suddenly, he remembered something and asked, “By the way, Doctor, the Immortal Lord just took three drops of blood from me. Do you know what he wants them for?”

The Doctor was startled. “You gave it to him?”

Su Mo smiled bitterly. “Did I have a choice?”

The Doctor sighed helplessly. “True. You really had no choice.”

He stared into Su Mo’s eyes for a long moment before suddenly saying, “Do you know why you turned into a girl?”

Su Mo’s heart skipped a beat, and he sharply looked at the Doctor.

He wasn’t surprised that the other knew this secret. He was just extremely interested in the “reason” the Doctor was about to give. His heartbeat quickened involuntarily.
